Tazewell County Reassessment

All Virginia localities are periodically required to conduct real estate reassessments.  This is a mass appraisal process that estimates the market value of all properties countywide.  In Tazewell County, the last reassessment was effective for the 2006 tax year (Code of Virginia 58.1-3252).

The purpose of a reassessment is to ensure that properties are assessed uniformly and that similar properties have a similar assessment.  The Reassessment Office analyzes market trends and the proposed assessments reflect the general activity of willing buyers and willing sellers.

Near the end of January 2012, property owners can expect to receive notices of assessment changes.  These proposed values will be effective for the 2012 tax year and will remain in place until the next reassessment.  The link provided below shows listings of the new assessments along with the previous assessment.
